Some photos from yesterdays McLaughlin swim at Green Island.
Congratulations to Marion Harvey who was awarded the McLaughlin trophy, by Jean, for being a stalwart member of the club! Huge thank you to JARC!
Just a quick appreciation post! In 2025 we received funding from Jersey Sport that we put towards having Jersey Aquatic Rescue Club support our ever growing Tuesday night sessions! It was such a success we have got them back again this year with the help of funding from JASA! Please don’t forget to thank them for their on water support We have managed to secure St Catherine Cafe to stay open on a Tuesday night for JLDSC.
They will be providing limited food but still a good selection - (this is some of the menu that maybe available) Scampi and Chips Fish and Chips Lasagne Chips and Salad Burger and chips Falafel wrap, chips and salad Avocado/Prawn/Salmon Salad BBQ Ribs, Chips and Salad All prices range between £14 to £16:50 We have worked hard to get the cafe open, so please support this new venture. If you wanted to order prior to getting in the water, that might help? Speak to Pauline about that. ****Safety announcement***** Please be aware that the Tri a Tri will be practicing on the Slip and the area around St Catherine at the same time as JLDSC, so there will be people and traffic in the area, please be careful and note parking spaces will fill quickly. Please not tomorrows swim as been moved to ARCHIRONDEL due to weather conditions and wind direction.
We will still meet at the same time. Please spread the word! Well done to all 56 swimmers who attended this evenings session at St Catherine’s! Not quite as sunny and warm as it has been but still a lovely evening !
Whilst away in San Diego celebrating the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame weekend, Sal Minty-Gravett completed the Around Coronado Swim.
This overnight swim covers just under 12 miles around Coronado Island, with Sally setting off in the early hours of 19 May in beautiful sea conditions and with a helpful current for most of the route. She finished in an incredible 5h 3m 12s! Supported by kayakers Dan Simonelli and Summer Wesson, with Carol Sing and Sidney Russell as land crew What a fabulous way to round off an amazing IMSHOF weekend. Well done Sally! This weekend saw the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Class of 2026 Inductions and Awards Ceremony across the pond in San Diego!
A huge congratulations goes to Cliff Golding who was last night inducted into the hall of fame! Cliff was recognised for decades of dedication to marathon swimming — assisting on over 120 solo swims, volunteering with the Dover Beach crew for more than 25 years, mentoring countless swimmers, and giving back to the sport both in and out of the water. Alongside his work behind the scenes, he’s also an accomplished marathon swimmer himself, completing multiple Channel, Jersey and Lake swims amongst others. A very well deserved honour for someone who has given so much to the swimming community. Cliff joins Sally and Charlie and the JLDSC in the hall of fame and has has asked me to pass on how deeply proud and honored he is. Sal has forwarded a few snapshots of the weekend including Kathleen Green Wilson (USA) sporting an original JLDSC jumper from 1999!! Congratulations Cliff !!! Well done to everyone this morning!! Definitely still a chill but so much nicer when the sun is shining.
Congratulations to Marion Harvey who was awarded the Flambard trophy for being a stalwart member of the club, always showing up and keeping the clubs history alive! Break the ice swim !
What a great turn out and even better weather for our first swim of the season! Well done to all those who braved the chilly waters! Congratulations also to Becca Collins who was presented with her trophy for her Jersey to France last year ! |
