Meet the Boat Crew

All roles within the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club are entirely voluntary — from our committee members and swim coordinator to the dedicated boat crews who pilot our marathon swims. Every part of the club is run by volunteers who give their time to keep sea swimming safe and thriving in Jersey.​

All ratified swims require a committee approved observer on board to assist, observe and authenticate those taking part in round Jersey or Jersey to France swim attemps. The Observer is the person appointed to collect the data from the swim upon which the JLDSC can ratify the swim.

Our Legacy Pilots 

For nearly two decades, Charlie and Mick piloted hundreds of Round Jersey and Jersey‑to‑France swims together, starting out in a boat barely bigger than a dinghy. Their dedication and teamwork became legendary within the club. We sadly lost Charlie in 2020, but Mick continues to lend a hand at swims today — carrying kayaks, transporting kit, moving cars, and helping wherever needed — still very much part of the club spirit
