MARCH
Congratulations to all those who took part in this years Swimarathon on Saturday 12th March. A lot of fun was had by all and we managed to raise £709 for the Lions Club Jersey.
We saw the return of the JLDSC quiz night organised by our 'Dinner Ladies'.
The evening was filled with fun, tricky questions and brain teasers, a raffle and football card. The evening raised £389.61 for the club (minus expenses!). Thanks to Marilyn and Pat for organising, Pete Blandin for hosting, the Optimist Club for the use of their room and bar, everyone who donated raffle prizes. Finally a huge thank you to everyone for coming! |
The CSPF dinner was hosted on March 19th.
The JLDSC award went to Verity Green. Verity is profoundly deaf and also has a balance disability/visual impairment. She speaks very well though and has a lovely hearing dog called Beau. Very completed her channel swim in a fantastic time of 12 hours 09 mins! A very deserving winner! Congratulations Verity! As there were no Jersey swimmers there Kirstie McArthur (nee Clements) presented the award. She is a Jersey girl who now lives in Kent. |

Well done everyone! |

JUNE
Stunning early morning swim at Bouley today! Well done to the hardy group that set their alarm clocks to before 7am on a Sunday!!
Something a little bit different to photograph today! I did get some photos of swimmers too!
Please remember we share our ocean with these beautiful creatures and although they can seem scary when you come across them, for the most part they are harmless! We are very lucky in Jersey that the species we have do sting but they are usually very minor (like nettle stings).
If you’re not sure what to do if you do get stung please use the NHS link below for Do’s and Don’ts.

AUGUST
Drumroll please ….
Members of the JLDSC please say hello to our new club boat!
Equipped with more space, more seating plus a table, and an on board shower and toilet we can’t wait to welcome swimmers aboard so they can enjoy their experience even more!
Naturally some of the committee had to go out and test all the facilities and yesterday was the perfect opportunity to do so (we even gave its bottom a bit of a clean ) ! It definitely got the thumbs up from us!
